GET YOU PULLED OVER BY POLICE
Get you pulled over by police. There are many reasons that police officers may pull a person over in their vehicle. We just wanted to discuss a few.
Speeding will get you pulled over: No doubt officers all across the country agree that this is the Number 1 reason for pulling people over. Remember – those posted speed limit signs are there for your safety. They are taken very seriously by officers of the law and you should take them serious too.
Driving Too Slow (the alternative to speeding) will get you pulled over: This really is a hazard to other drivers on the roadway. An officer will likely pull you over primarily just to see if you might be having some type of difficulty in driving (under the influence, medical problem, etc.) to explain the snail pace.
Tailgating: This is a very dangerous way to drive and will bring the attention of a local officer on the road. Please make it a point to put at least 10 feet per each 10 mph between you and the car in front of you.
Failing to Stop at Stop Sign/Red Light: It is bad enough if you flat out go through that red light or stop sign, but officers also look for the people that do the “rolling stop”. Stop means “stop”. No excuses.
Not Wearing a Seatbelt: It is now the law in all 50 states that seatbelts must be worn by everyone in a moving vehicle. As they say “Click It or Ticket”.
Distracted Driving: By all means when driving put down that cell phone. Different states take different approaches to this subject however you can believe that an officer anywhere will pull you over if you are seen with one in your hand. This can also include eating while driving of attempting to adjust your radio or other electronics on your dash.
Equipment Violations: This would include things such as head/tail lamp out, brake light out, blinkers or the light out over your tag. This can also include cracked windshields and /or side windows. And please by all means don’t drive around without a bumper on the front or back.
Illegally Tinted Windows: This could go in the “equipment violations” category but we thought it deserves its own category. Just because a detail shop talks you into darkening those windows does not mean that it is a “legal” tint and an officer will pull you over if he believes it is too dark.
The Expired License Plate: It is only renewed once a year so sometimes it can be forgotten, but be aware of when it expires so if you do not receive a renewal in the mail as expected you can take care of this so an officer does not have to pull you over to remind you.
Radio Playing Too Loud: Officers might not always appreciate the type of music you listen to so there is no need to bring it to their attention by blowing out your speakers.
We have just named a few of the infractions that officers are looking for on the streets and highways in America that will get you pulled over by police. The officer that pulls you over then establishes probable cause of other violations he may then discover. If you would like to share with us any stories regarding your experience of being pulled over, feel free to share. www.ronkimlaw.com; 901-767-3520;731-479-1067.
