We can all agree that winter is here for the South. The weather this week has been frightful for most of the South. The most frightful part of it can be driving on the treacherous streets created by the lingering snow and ice. Union City Police Chief Perry Barfield has stated that their department responded to numerous minor accidents on Tuesday as a result of this frozen precipitation. Schools have remained closed in Obion County and classes have been cancelled at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Winter is here for the South. There have been numerous other closures of businesses and churches, so there doesn’t seem to be much need for a large majority of people to be on the streets (as long as you already have the milk and bread). But if you have to be out and about to take care of business, please remember: buckle up, slow down and please don’t touch that cell phone while operating a vehicle as your attention definitely needs to be on the road.
