A tragic accident occurring just twenty-five miles north of Montgomery shatters the lives of many, shocking a small southern community and beyond.
On March 27, 2011, a three collision occurring in central Alabama claimed the lives of four Indiana teens and a local resident. Alexx Bauer, Matthew Roe, Evan Weaver, and Riley Zimmer, all eighteen year old high school students, were returning to their Angola, Indiana homes after a leisurely spring break trip on the Gulf Coast. Their travels were cut short by a collision with Niall McNellis, twenty-one year old resident of Troy, Alabama. Local authorities report that McNellis’ southbound car passed over the median, striking the oppositely oriented vehicle. Experts claim that the situation more than likely precipitated by the poor weather conditions which plagued the highway that afternoon. The thoughts and prayers of all associates here at Ron Kim Law are tenderly extended to the victims along with their friends and family.
As we are painstakingly demonstrated time and again, there exists an extremely high correlation between poor weather conditions and automobile accidents. To the driver’s lament, Mother Nature takes pride in poor visibility, slick asphalt, and often taunting winds. May this tragedy serve as a reminder for us to practice safe driving habits, even those extra precautions which the weather so often warrants.
