In the grand scheme of all that inhabits the road, most would probably agree that motorcycles are by far the most vulnerable vehicle. Most would also contend that motorcyclists as well as those who share the road with them should exercise extreme caution. Thus, the idea of a lackadaisical meeting of a motorcycle with a big rig surely brings terror to the minds of drivers.
On Friday, May 20, 2011, around 10:30 p.m. an 18-wheeler driven by an anonymous middle-aged man was turning westbound onto Brooks Road from McCorkle Road in Memphis, Tennessee. It was then that a motorcyclist, heading east on Brooks Road, collided with the tractor-trailer. The motorcyclist, whose name is yet to be released, was pronounced dead on the scene. The trucker was uninjured.
Both tractor-trailers and motorcycles prove to be extraordinary cases on the road: one should be noted for its apparent threat to other drivers, the other for its vulnerability. Please, exercise extreme caution whenever in the vicinity of either of these motorized vehicles while on the road.
