UPS TRUCK AND CAR COLLIDE IN MEMPHIS – ONE KILLED, ONE CRITICAL
On Tuesday evening, October 27, 2015, Andrew Morris made many bad decisions. Mr. Morris was driving westbound on Winchester Road when he decided to turn left toward a private driveway, However, he did so in the path of a UPS truck that was traveling eastbound on Winchester, which struck the passenger side of the Dodge Avenger Mr. Morris was driving. The right front passenger in the vehicle died at the scene of the accident from her injuries. The passenger in the right rear side of the vehicle was transported to the hospital in critical condition. Mr. Morris’ 8 year old daughter was also in the car, but was unharmed. The UPS driver is in noncritical condition at Methodist South.
Upon investigation of the accident, Memphis Police saw an open can of beer in the center console of the Dodge Avenger and Mr. Morris admitted to drinking half the beer and smoking marijuana earlier in the day.
As of result of Mr. Morris’ careless driving, he has been charged with: aggravated assault, aggravated vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, DUI, child endangerment, failure to exercise due care, open container and violation of seat belt law.
