Slippery conditions across Tennessee as precipitation soaked the Volunteer State the week before Christmas, TDOT saw a significant surge in highway accidents. Officials report that a total of sixteen unique automobile collisions occurred on Interstates 75 and 24 in the days leading up to the holidays.
Fortunately, according to a dispatcher at the Chattanooga Police Department, only two of these accidents precipitated major injuries.
While the recent influx in traffic and precipitation has caused a number of accidents throughout the Mid-South, Tennessee’s statewide driving record is seeing noteworthy improvement. There were 1,017 traffic fatalities across the state last year; officials project that this year will end with roughly one hundred less. This decrease has been attributed to safer automobiles, better roads, and better driver education.
We at RON KIM LAW would like to remind you to practice safe driving habits over the bustle of the holidays. Be wary of the slippery conditions across Tennessee. We hope you had a merry Christmas and wish you a happy New Year’s.
